LOK-N-LOGS
is totally involved with the log products which go into every one of
our log homes - from the forest to your building site. From timber harvesting
to finish millwork, LOK-N-LOGS
controls and monitors every aspect of production, treating every log
home as if it were our own home. In our company-owned sawmills, dry
kilns, planer mills and preservation facilities, we saw the raw logs
shortly after they are harvested and then dry the rough sawn material.
Logs are then handpeeled and planed or shaped into smooth profile finishes.
Then they are graded, precut and numbered according to each customer's
individual design.
W hen you compare log home companies and the log home
packages which they provide, log joinery systems and log precutting
should be two of your primary considerations. At LOK-N-LOGS
we have refined and perfected the time-honored tongue and groove log
building system so that you can build your LOK-N-LOGS
home with complete confidence. Our sealing system is second to none
and we encourage you to compare it with that of other manufacturers.
We're sure that LOK-N-LOGS
stacks up favorably!

Some log home manufacturers do not precut your
log components at all, choosing instead to provide a 'random length'
package which is labor intensive - driving up construction time and
costs. Other companies precut only portions of your log package leaving
open the possibility for costly cutting errors at the job site and the
potential for equally costly construction delays. At LOK-N-LOGS
we totally precut all of your log components. In addition to our 8'
high log walls, which feature precut corner joints and window and door
openings, we also precut our full log gable ends - including roof angles
and any gable end openings. Regardless of your choice of log style or
roof configuration, your LOK-N-LOGS
home will arrive at your building site with precut house and porch rafters.
We also precut the mortise and tendon floor joists and the main carrier
beam connections for your second floor support system. Accurate precutting
means less construction time on-site and translates into substantial
construction cost savings. Responsibility for all log cuts lies with
us, the manufacturer, not a local contractor faced with the challenges
presented by a 'random length' log package.
LOK-N-LOGS
originally chose red pine as its primary material simply because red
pine is so readily available in the vicinity of our manufacturing facilities.
The abundance of red pine has helped to keep our prices very competitive.
There are many other advantages to using red pine. It remains one of
the most beautiful of the wood species used for log homes with its rich,
warm red hues and its unique variety of knot patterns. Red pine is also
strong, durable, easy to treat and, unlike some other species, dries
quickly and easily. Of most importance to us, however, is the fact that
the heart of each timber is contained within every wall log which we
produce. This keeps checking, which is common to all wood types, from
going completely through the log. In red pine logs any checking will
always stop at the heart. With LOK-N-LOGS
our commitment to quality begins there.
As further evidence of LOK-N-LOGS'
commitment to quality, we are currently grading all of our log material.
Our grading operation is periodically reviewed by an independent third-party
testing agency, Timber Products Inspection (TPI) in Conyers, Georgia.
What does this mean to you, the log home consumer? Simply that you do
not have to take our word, or even that of our customers, regarding
the quality of our log home packages - our logs have met the strict
standards of the American Society for Testing Materials whose policies
are also approved by the Congress of American Building Officials. LOK-N-LOGS
means precut log home quality that you can bank on!
