Curtiss SO3C-1
"Seamew"
This is my winter project for 2010-2011. I have designed this plane from 3-view drawings by
Paul Matt. I am drawing it with TurboCad 12 and saving them in 'PDF' format.
I then email them to "GraphicsPlus" where they print them full size.

This plane is designed to be 1/5th scale. I am using a DLE 55 gas engine to get enough power
inside a tight cowl. It will have a 91 1/2 " wing span.
I am using .58 oz. fiberglass cloth
embedded in 'evirotech lite'
polymer to strengthen the
surface.
The wings are the last major
structure to be built.
The fuselage is sheeted with 1/8"
balsa to allow extensive sanding.
The DLE 55 engine fits snuggly
in the cowl but is fully
accessible
A photo of the original plane.
This plane was designed to be launched from a ship
and retreived by a ship board crane.I am building
th land based version.
The finished plane, a little fuzzy from
indoor lighting.
Background clutter doesn't allow a good
view.
