In 1992, the Rosebud Sioux Tribal Council allocated funds to the Education Department to develop the Truancy Intervention Program.  The purpose and goals of this program are to provide assistance to families and their students who are enrolled in school systems within the original boundaries of the Rosebud Reservation in order to help decrease chronic absenteeism and student dropout rates by offering the following services:

             *Truancy Intervention Services

                 *Family/Student Advocacy

                 *Referral and Assessment

                 *Follow-Up

                 *Court Case Service Plans

*Transportation Coordination for Off-                                               Reservation Schools

The main focus of these services is to advocate for students and their families to support the Tribe’s commitment to the education of our Sicangu Wakanyeja.
