The RST Education Department was established by Tribal government in 1989 to complete the development of the RST Education Code.  The Department was invested with the power and duty to administer and enforce the Tribal Education Code and other Tribal education laws unless such powers and duties are otherwise delegated.  RST Education also serves as the administrative department for the RST Education Committee.

The primary focus of this Education Code is to ensure that school age students up to age 18 years old receive a quality education within the local school systems.  The RST Education Department works in conjunction with schools, agencies and families to facilitate educational services to the Sicangu Lakota.

The Rosebud Sioux Tribe recognizes and values the importance of providing indigenous students with a solid educational foundation; thus, ensuring that they become progressive community leaders and educators of the Oyate.  It is intrinsic to the success of our people and communities that we acquire the academic skills necessary to promote and become responsible individuals and community members.  Hand-in-hand with individuals and other educational entities, we stress “ownership” in education for it is the master key that will unlock the doors of opportunity.  In keeping with this, RST Education Department is humbly offering the following educational services:

                                       *Truancy Intervention Services (K-12)

*Early Intervention Services (Birth to 5 years)

                                       *Higher Education Scholarship Program

                                       *Educational Assistance
